ALEC
in wisconsin
A Project of Community for Change
In July, 2011 the Center for Media & Democracy published over 800 model legislation bills created by a shadowy, not-for-profit group of corporations and state legislators whose members and activities had been kept a closely guarded secret for three decades. The name of this mysterious group is the American Legislative Exchange Council aka ALEC.

In early 2011, an ALEC member turned over these documents to the CMD after a growing concern about ALEC's influence in state legislation across the country, including Wisconsin.
ALEC's influence in Wisconsin is not just obvious in Madison, it reaches directly into our community through our elected representatives who meet with ALEC's corporate members to draft legislation you cannot see or read until it has been introduced in Madison.

Community for Change has prepared "ALEC in Wisconsin" so community members can view for themselves information about ALEC, Wisconsin ALEC members and ALEC influenced bills which have already been introduced.
